Format
SICA is an intensive five-day program for young symphonic conductors, combining hands-on experience with the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and guidance from maestro Theodore Kuchar.
Participants can expect intense sessions of playing with the orchestra, classes with two pianists-concertmasters, and a final concert on the main stage of the Lviv National Philharmonic!
SICA offers participation in three different categories.
Сategories:
Category A – Young conductors up to 35 years old
- 4 active participants selected personally by Theodore Kuchar
- 5 rehearsals with the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra
- 3 rehearsals with correpetitors
- participation in the final concert of SICA
Program:
- M. Ravel – Rapsodie espagnole
- K. Szymanowski – Violin Concerto No. 1
- Andriy Chaikovskyi, violino solo
- J. Brahms – Symphony No. 3
Category B (Unavailable for foreign students) – For students of Ukrainian music academies only
- 4 active participants selected personally by Theodore Kuchar
- 3 rehearsals with string ensemble and piano
- 2 rehearsals with correpetitors

- L. Beethoven – Leonore Overture No. 1
- L. Beethoven – Symphony No. 9, 3rd movement
- F. Schubert – Symphony No. 3, movements I–II
- F. Schubert – Symphony No. 6, movements I–II
Category C – Passive participants (no age or education requirements)
- the number of participants is unlimited
- the opportunity to freely attend SICA rehearsals and discussions
- engaging in networking within SICA activities
Participation in the SICA is free of charge!
Travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the participant.
