Theodore Kuchar isn’t just a great conductor — he’s a mentor with a global vision.
For the past 30 years, at which time Theodore Kuchar was appointed the General Director and Principal Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine in 1994, his numerous accomplishments as seen through a transformation of concert activity in Ukraine and on four continents abroad and numerous recordings for the Naxos, Brilliant Classics and Toccata Classics labels have helped establish Ukraine as one of the orchestral and musical capitals of the world. His orchestral legend in Ukraine has continued to the present day, presently serving as the Principal Conductor of the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine. In addition, he has served in music directorships in Australia, the Czech Republic, Poland, the USA and Venezuela.
Beyond conducting, Kuchar remains a distinguished instrumentalist, pedagogue and administrator — he founded and directed the Australian Festival of Chamber Music and helped bring it to international prominence as one of the most distinguished musical festivals in the world. Since 2017, he has had a regular relationship with the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine and as the orchestra's Principal Conductor during the past two years, have undertaken major tours of the USA and United Kingdom, performing in major musical centres including London, Birmingham (England), Cleveland, Miami and Carnegie Hall in New York City.
But beyond the accolades and titles, what sets Theodore Kuchar apart is his warmth, openness, and generosity as a teacher. He’s the kind of mentor you want to learn from — and trust.
